Holidays are here!

I hope everyone had a merry christmas, I know in our house it was very Jolly!

On Christmas Eve, my brother Danny and his longtime girlfriend, Ann got Engaged! Yay for an engagement shoot and Danny finally doing it!

I was surprised christmas morning to find out Adam got me an Imagine... without me knowing! But, sad news is I need to call HSN and/or Provo Craft this morning to have it swapped out; because it's broken! One of the roller/bar things that runs across the bottom (under the mat) in the back of the machine was sticking up and blocking the path for the mat, so it couldn't print correctly, and then once I noticed and 'fixed' that issue (by pushing it into the right clips) it won't cut now. :-(

Anyways, I'm excited for playing with one that works in the next few weeks.

Adam also got me lots of other great things, a Bind-it-all; Unity Stamps that I've already made this little gem with:

My mom is having a rough holiday season, so this card will be for her; I LOVE the quote. I also got a beautiful necklace I've been wanting, by Lisa Leonard Designs. This initial tags have a 'K' and a 'Z'.

I hope you had a great christmas also, and I will keep you posted on my journey to get a working imagine!

Santa Flying Layout & Bokeh

So, it's been a while; as normal seems now-a-days. Last Friday, we opted out of the typical 'oh my G-- we forgot to take Zoe to see Santa, we'd better hurry this weekend!!' and took her on a Friday afternoon. Luckily, I'd gotten her 'dressed' that morning (which is totally out of our ordinary, since she normally chooses her own outfits; especially on a Friday since it's our 'short' day at work (Doodlebug Sportz for your paintball and extreme sports needs& Used HD Parts on Ebay for Harley Davidson parts).

So, we all know I broke the law here; by photographing a photo I had to pay for, but honestly they basically raped us for the one photo ($21 for a wimpy 5X7, which was more of a 4.5X6.5 anyways...) so here is my big girl with Santa! She was thrilled to tell him all about the 'teeny, tiny, little house' she wanted (being a doll house) 'like Phenyx has' she mentioned; hopefully Santa knows our good friends Phenyx & Keelen, eh?

I've made it into a Christmas Layout, using the My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland Paper Stack and solid papers as well as some Tim Holtz Distress Inks and my Cricut Expressions, and Gypsy (with my FREE Christmas Cartridge I hadn't even looked at yet!) A HUGE thank you to Lauren, over at Lauren's Creative; because honestly; I had no clue this image was on the cartridge until I saw a layout she did using it with her adorable daugher on it.

Here is a close up of the sign I used, it's also from the 'Christmas' Cartridge that I got on my last Gypsy Upload for FREE!

I distressed the 'wood' of the sign using Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress Inks, and then embossed it using the Cuttlebug Branches Folder.

Isn't this little image adorable? I had to copy Lauren on the faux stitching too... thanks Lauren! :-)

Totally off the topic, I've been checking out Kevin & Amanda's Blog lately, I used to use it for the Peas for Fonts Section, where you can get hundreds; literally HUNDREDS of adorable fonts for scrapbooking, signs, etc for FREE! Amazingly, Amanda creates them based on submissions people make and lets everyone have them for free! I use them all the time for things around my house and even at work when I need signs, and my handwriting isn't 'pretty' enough but normal Times New Roman or Tahoma isn't personal enough; feel me?
So, back to the topic ( I get excited easily... lol) and she did a post on Bokeh photography. Bokeh is actually just a 'background' if you will, and I was intriqued. Of course, being me I searched and searched on how to do it perfectly, and realized that she has the best description and directions anywhere on the web (better than my fellow photographers even!). So, using this tutorial; I took a few little shots of things like this--
Isn't it pretty? The christmas lights on the tree really make it sparkle. :-) So, a thanks to Amanda too; because she totally motivated me to try something new, and I may even use this in my photography shoots throughout the year now. By the way; have you looked at my photography site lately?
Thanks for stopping by today!

Get Sketchy, Sketch #68

Hi Everyone!
I was checking out Get Sketchy earlier today, and saw this sketch.

I am supposed to be in the ScrapShop working on some cardboard (chipboard) brochure holders (if anyone has a Cricut File for this cut, I'd LOVE IT!) that my Dad needs for his business, Doodlebug Sportz, the leading paintball facility in the Pacific Northwest, but got in their and sort of spaced off.

Anywhoo, of course this was more fun...

Being that my last Papercraft Magazine was greys and valentines, I sort of mixed the two for this one.

White Cardstock (4 1/8th X 5.25")
Patterned Paper (from DCWV Summer's Dream Stack, 4" X 5 1/8th)
White Cardstock Strip (4"X1.75")
Metallic Pink/Red Piece (2.25"X1.75")
Black Strip (1.75"X1") Punched with Fiskars Sunburst Border Punch
ATG Gun
Branches Embossing Folder
Glue

Book Party and a Layout!

So, today at my house I hosted an Usborne Books Party; and had a few friends over to shop. I found some great deals, and will be ordering as soon as I learn all about my hostess benefits from the sales and bookings from the party.

Usborne Books is the leading publisher of Children's Books Internationally. Have you ever heard of 'Everyone Poops'? Well, they are the publisher, and it can only be purchased through an Usborne Books Independant Consultant. I already own it, or I'd be buying it, but anyways I thought I'd share the link to my eshow here, in case any of you are interested in books for the holidays!

http://www.ubah.com/HOS187165

Here is a layout from today.

The wording is from the Cartridge Stamped, and I know... it's OLD!
The paper is DCWV Summer Dream Stack
Prima Flowers
Inked all over with Tim Holtz Distress Inks

Cheers!

Holiday Gift Tags

Hi Everyone!!

Thing have been good around here, it was very wet and snowy here last week, which is out of the norm for our region (north of Seattle) this time of year and in our house I seemed to be the only one without bronchitis (ahhh heeemm, Zoe and Papa) or pnuemonia (ahh heeem, Adam) and now it's catching up to me! I've got some sort of cold and cough, but I'm praying it will go away on it's own.

Anywhoo; I was up this evening, and thought I'd make some cute tags to hang on holiday gifts.
I've always wanted to make tags, instead of buying the stick on kind. I've also always wanted to decorate the tree with one theme, use wrapping paper that coordinates with the theme and only white lights to make the tree classy, and really sparkle... but, back to reality and these cute tags though (since I have a three year old, and a slightly 'eclectic' husband, we'll stick with the children made and/or half broken ornaments (that are her 'ffaaaaavvvooowit'; so I can't throw them away... )

The supplies I used for these tags are:

Cricut Expressions, Winter Frolic Cartridge, Brown, White & Pink Cardstocks, Green Textured Cardstock, Red Textured Cardstock, Blue Gemstones Core'dinations, and a Patterned cardstock from the My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter Stack.

My tag is cut at 2" from the tag feature, raindeer button. The mouse and all associated cuts were made at 1.75". The small square on the back of the tag was cut with my Fiskars Rotary Trimmer and cut to 2.5"X1.75" and corners were rounded with a corner rounding punch.

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving; I know I did. I still have a hard time with holidays, they are sort of bittersweet for me. Anyone who recently lost a person they loved knows that the holidays are great; but holidays without (fill in your blank here, mine is Knox) is hard. Building the memories sans that person you love so much can hurt. I am so thankful for my beautiful family, all of our caring relatives and being blessed enough to have a filling and fun holiday.

I am headed to bed, as I've got to be up bright and early to work at Horse Head Quarters in the morning, turning out horses and cleaning stalls. :) I am one lucky girl to have such an amazing job! :-)

Thanks for checking in today, and have a great night!

Waltzingmouse Challenge

It's been a long time for me to post anything, let alone two postings in one day!
After uploading my last posting, I was surfing around, and through Papercraft Star...
found Kim Duran one of their newest design team members.
Then, from her blog; I found Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog.
They have a challenge going on based on a sketch, and this is my interpretation of it!
Here is a shot of the detail on the flowers.
Supplies:
Red Cardstock (actually a scrap!) as base
Scrap pieces from the My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter Stack I was using earlier. (for ALL the pattern paper used)
Prima Flowers
Glue Dots
Hemp Cording
Pink Button
ATG gun

Winter Frolic Card Set

Hello Everyone!
I'm working on some Holiday Cards, and thought I would share with you the newest creations.
The stocking is cut from Winter Frolic Cartridge, at 3".
The snowman is also cut from Winter Frolic, and is cut at 2.5".
Supplies:
My Mind's Eye Paper Stack, Winter Wonderland
Brown, Ivory, Pink, Orange Cardstock
Red Core'dinations
White Paper (with embossed dots, it came this way but could easily be recreated with swiss dots cuttlebug folder)
Pink Satin Ribbon
Simple Directions: Start with 8.5X4.25 Cardstock, and fold in half, hamburger style. Mat Ivory cardstock under pattern of your choice. Tie with ribbon, add your charactor and stamp sentiment.
Cheers and happy holidays!

Holiday Bazzar Products

Hi Guys,
I've been so busy doing things for the holiday bazaars I've committed to being in. Tomorrow, I have one at Good Shephard Church in Snohomish, WA. If you are from around here, you know Snohomish is AMAZING and a very country, rustic town. I thought these up a while back, and hadn't acted up on my idea until I found the perfect scrap wood at Horse Head Quarters, in Snohomish WA.
I think they turned out beautiful, and I wasn't going to do any Shabby Chic but once I did one for myself, I LOVE how they look, and did a few more. These will be available for purchase tomorrow at the bazaar, or can be purchased through contacting me dddcort (at) yahoo (dot) com. They will be priced @ $12 each tomorrow, and I'm not sure on shipping for them, but they may be up on Etsy soon as well.
Please remember, I hope this does inspire you, but the idea, product and plans for it are in Copyright at the moment! :-)

Enjoy!

update

Hi Everyone--

I know I haven't been around much lately; and honestly I haven't been doing much crafting either. I wanted to apologize to all my followers for sort of last minute bailing out on you all recently. I know my blog has been neglected, and if it had feelings, I'm sure they would be hurt.

I've been focusing on my photography; and it can be viewed here. Photography is my outlet, and one of the things that lights up my life and makes me smile. I love to see what I can do, and the reactions I can arise from deep in people just with my images.

I've been missing Knox a lot lately. I'm not really sure how to explain my feelings to people who haven't lost children; especially young ones whose future was never learned, seen or shown; only dreamt of. I cry a lot about the things we're missing out on.

Of course, like all parents we dreamt about the day we'd meet Knox; and when we did we felt complete. Lately; I've felt like the light I had in my heart from my kids has dimmed some; I can't figure out how to make that 're-brighten'. Of course, I love the little girl I do have still, I would do anything for her.

For a long time after Knox died; I protected myself and I felt like he was never really here; and if I just convinced myself that I had made up the horrible things into a nightmare and I dealt with; I'd be okay. Now, I'm seeing that he was here; and it was too short; and I DO miss him.

I really miss him with all my physical and mental being and it hurts sometimes. I physically am in pain with how much I miss him most days and sometimes (A LOT lately) I can't even get through a thought without thinking about him. I've been coping and focusing my attention on everything else in life; to keep my focus off how much I miss what I had with that little warm, happy bundle in my arms.

Anyways, I plan on getting more of my crafting online soon; I need to get back into the swing of things, and gather my brain into one place.

Talk with you all soon! Or more; write to you all soon.

Crafting for... ME?!

It has been a long time since I got to craft just for me. I am ususally doing things for other people; design teams or another purpose (not sure what it would be, but not just to enjoy the experience.)

Last night, I was surfing on Two Peas in A Bucket, which I LOVE for the challenges they host; and saw some adorable cards.

I used it as my inspiration and created this.

Supplies:

Solid Paper--Papertrey Ink, Plaid paper from my stash, Sweet Treats Cartridge, paper was my minds eye. Brown thin sharpie for ALL writing and WISH with a stencil. Bling attached with my iRock. :-)

enjoy!

Photos from FORKS!

I know some of you were aware; I went to Forks, WA this weekend for a family trip. We did some beach stops along the way also; and here are some photos of that.

Here's the funny one....

That's right; this is BELLA'S TRUCK! Ha- the Twihard only poked through a few times. Steph took me on the official resident of Forks Twilight Tour, and when no one was looking (you can see I'm embarrased in the photo) she snapped a quick picture of me and Bella's Truck. I was too embarrased (being that she grew up there, and EVERYONE knows everyone there) someone was bound to see us taking photos with Edward. lol.

I encourage you to pop over to Dawn Bennett Images; and check out the photos from the weekend. They are gorgeous!

Mini- Vacation for me!

That's right guys; I'm headed for FORKS! Home of Edward, Jacob and Bella.

Am I a twilight nerd; maybe. Am I there for Twilight at all? Nope! I'm headed to have some much needed girl time; and can some fresh off the boat Tuna Fish!

A girlfriend who grew up in Forks, WAAAAYYYY before twilight, when it was just home to the most beautiful Olympic National Rainforest, invited me and Zoe to head over and do the yearly Tuna Canning with her M-I-L. So; we've ordered our fresh Tuna, and will be canning fish all weekend! I've never done it before, but think it should be a blast.

Don't worry though; I'll take a photo or two with the famous (albeit, cardboard) Edward! :-)

Happy Halloween! Using all Target $1 bin finds

Hi Guys!

I'm not really convinced that the next holiday around here is halloween... The only REAL reason I am starting to believe, is that I walked into Target yesterday, and low and behold the dollar bins have halloween goods. They were pretty well picked over already; but I found some paper and ribbon sets.Of course, as most of you know I can't pass up paper at a decent price. 8 sheets... $1... thats cheap. :-) I wanted to stick with using what I had on hand for this, and I picked up this $1 stamp from Michaels months ago, preparing for halloween. So, I've created this little gem.
I've used the patterned spots paper (from the 8 assorted papers pack) as the background (set on black cardstock). I layered core'dinations black paper under the cat/phrase paper. I used my cuttlebug borders for the 'stitching' on the black paper. The ribbon is also from Target, in the dollar bins.
I hope this inspires you to glance into the dolalr bins the next time you stop by Target! Be sure to stop by in a bit; and check out what I've picked up over the course of yesterday and today!!

Hi Everyone! I'm so glad you've decided to join us along this blog hop! You should have gotten here from Chomas Creations... I want to welcome you to Dawn's Addiction... and let you know what I do here at my blog! I'm a crafter, as well as a mom to Zoe who will be three in October. I LOVE to make cards, altered items and scrapbooking. I generally post each day; with a crafty project I've made; or some sort of family type update.

I also want to let you all know that I sell Authentic, Brand New Cricut Products for very low prices. I have just about all the cartridges for sale, and most cartridges are under $30 with a few of the higher/newer cartridges being just over (ex: Create a Critter is $35; Winter Frolic is $36; Preserves is $29; Once Upon A Princess and Give a Hoot are $30, etc). I also have brand new, sealed in the package Gypsys for $153. You can check out the pages at the top of the blog for more information.

We are doing this blog hop in honor of the 9/11 attacks---- my focus on my bloghop project is to let the people serving our country know that they are my heros! I've had two of 4 brothers in the military (marines and navy) and have so much respect for their choice to do so. Until I've gotten to be an adult, I didn't understand just how important the men and woman who serve our country are.

Our sponsors for this hop are Craft-E-Corner who is donating the A-Z Cricut DVD to one lucky hopper and a 10% coupon code to ALL hoppers, this code can be found at the start of the hop; on Pink Cricut's Post and Pink by Design, for a $25 Gift Certificate. Also, on Pink by Design; there is a big, fat, huge discount running through the weekend for hoppers! We can all thank them soooo much for giving us a discount this weekend and providing an awesome prize for someone!

I want to really urge you to make sure and check out all the blogs-- I know there are at least two Cricut Cartridges being given away; along with oodles of other good stuff! Onto the project---

I thought this would make a good thing to send a little gift for a person serving.

The bag is just a paper gift sack, I've altered. I used my Cricut with Stand & Salute for the title and star banner. For the superhero; I used Paper Doll Dress up, as well as Peachy Keen Stamps for his eyes. Bows top this bag off, and add a little dimension to the handle as well!

For this hop; I've chosen to do a SMALL GIVEAWAY just for coming by! Since this blog hop is hosted by Sarah, over at Pink Cricut; I've decided to giveaway a Pink Sweet Treats Cricut Shirt (100% cotton, size XL); as well as a handful of scrapbooking embellishments!

Due to the shipping costs; I'm only able to offer this to hoppers in the U.S (sorry to everyone else in the world-- I just can't fork out all the extra they demand to send things international). All you need to do to enter is leave a comment on THIS post and let me know what your favorite project on the hop is! Remember to leave a way for me to reach you, and if you like the blog; feel free to follow (not required)! Easy Peasy... and you get in the running for that bundle of goodies! I'll draw the winner Monday via random.org and post it here! Good luck, and thanks for stopping by!

ADDED, ANOTHER GIVEAWAY! Today, I'm adding another giveaway! For Sunday commenters; you have the chance to win a White, Tags Bags Boxes and More tee shirt size large!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to remind you that this weekend in honor of September 11th; Pink Cricut is hosting a blog hop. I was offered a place in the lineup; and of course will be taking part in it!

I hope you'll stop by and see what I have to inspire you; as well as my giveaway for all of you who hop along.... I've got a Cricut Tee-Shirt and a mixed package of goodies for you to win!

Also... did you see I announced my lucky Tinkerbell Cricut Cartridge winner for last weekends Cricut Fairy Blog Hop?
I will talk with you all soon, and thanks for stopping by!
